Format

The course at Rob's Arcade is comprised of 12 holes (see Course for more information).  Every hole is a Par 3, and the maximum score on any single hole is 10.

Qualifying

The qualifying course will be comprised of 9 holes selected at random.  Players will be assigned to foursomes based on IFPA rankings and ratings, the goal being to create balanced groups (for timing only).  Foursomes will play each of the 9 holes, with each individual player recording a score on each hole.  It is important to note an individual is competing against the entire field, not just the other members of the foursome.  Once all players have completed all 9 holes, players will be ranked based on total score (lowest score is best).

Quarter-Finals

Provided there are 32 players, the top 16 will advance to the Quarter-Finals.  They will play in 4 foursomes.

If there are 24-31 players, the top 12 will advance to the Quarter-Finals.  The top 4 will receive a bye.  Seeds 5-12 will be broken into 2 foursomes.

The Quarter-Finals will consist of 3-hole matches.  The top two finishers in each foursome (based on the total 3-hole score) will advance.  All 11 holes are available for play, and hole selection will be balanced.

Semi-Finals

If there are 32 players, the top 8 finishers from the Quarter-Finals will advance to the Semi-Finals.

If there are 24-31 players, the 4 players that received a bye in the Quarter-Finals and the top 4 finishers from the Quarter-Finals will advance to the Semi-Finals.

In the event there are less than 24 (but at least 16) players, there will be no Quarter-Finals and the top 8 from the Qualifying round will advance to the Semi-Finals.

The 8 players will be broken into 2 foursomes and will play 3-hole matches.  The top two finishers in each foursome (based on the total 3-hole score) will advance.  All 11 holes are available for play, and hole selection will be balanced.

Finals

The 4 players advancing from Semi-Finals will play as a foursome in a final 3-hole match.  All 11 holes are available for play, and hole selection will be balanced.  The total 3-hole score will be used to determine the final standings.

Tie-Breakers

Ties will be broken by most holes-in-one obtained in the current round.  If tied players scored the same number of holes-in-one, the number of holes-in-two will be used, etc.  Any ties that impact whether a player advances to the next round (or to determine 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the case of Finals) that cannot be resolved by the Tie-Breaker system will be determined by a 1-hole playoff with the hole selected at random.

Order of Play

For the first hole, players will play in the order indicated on the scorecard.  For each subsequent hole, the player with the lowest score on the prior hole takes the honor of going first, the player with the next-lowest score goes second, etc.  If two or more players have the same score on the prior hole, they play in the same order as the prior hole.

Extra Balls

Where feasible, extra balls will be disabled.  However, this is not possible on certain holes (i.e. Capersville, Pinball, and KISS).  Should an extra ball be earned, a player should play it as part of the same stroke on that hole.  For example, if a player is playing ball 4 on KISS, has 13 of the 16 letters lit, earns an extra ball, drains, plays the extra ball and completes the remaining 3 letters, that player receives a 4 on the hole.

Bonus Balls

This only applies to Iron Maiden '82.  If earned during the game, there will be a timed bonus ball awarded to the player at the end of ball 5.  This ball should be played and will not be counted as an additional stroke.  Whatever progress is made during the bonus ball will be considered part of ball 5.
