Inferential tests all follow the same principles and all tests build on each other. Therefore we start again with one of the simplest inferential tests:, the t-test, the inferential statistic used to determine if there is a significant difference between the means of two goroups. and explain the principles as well as the outputs.
Once you understand these t-test thouroghly the Anova Tests will be easy to understand. :-) The same than applies for the next level. (t-Test --> One way Anova--> Two way Anova--> Ancova)
For all inferential tests we will apply the same steps. These are:
Review the research question and research design - Identify the relevant variables and set the hypotheeses - Decide on the test. (all covered under research design already)
Check your data (explore)... Think.... Be aware of the assumptions of the test.
Do the Test in SPSS (including checking the assumptions of the test)
Interpret the results.
Write up your results in APA style.
Includes Independent t-test, repeated measures t-test as well as non-parametric alternatives.
Once you understand these t-test thouroghly Anovas will be easy to understand. :-)
Let me know if we should add another term here.
Worksheets are optional but recommended.
I recommend you do this worksheet. If you find this difficult, do the optional worksheets first.
