1989年夏天，沒有人知道鐵幕政權快要走到尾聲，費琪也不知道，她的好友也將一去不返。動畫以孩子的視角，刺破東德的荒謬日常，展現重大的歷史時刻下小人物的勇氣。

12歲的費琪受蘇菲所託，在她與媽媽去匈牙利度假時幫忙照顧小狗。可是暑假結束後，蘇菲並沒有回來。人們都說：東德人離開了以後，前往西德生活後都不會再回來。柏林街上的人們也越來越多了，他們義無反顧地遊行，冒著被捕的危險，訴求要令國家變得更好。這些人激發起費琪的勇氣，她決定帶著小狗出門，踏上尋找蘇菲的驚險旅程。沒想到兩人再見的那一天，竟然見證了重大的歷史事件！

East Germany, 1989. Summertime. No one knows the Iron Curtain is about to fall. Twelve-year-old Fritzi lovingly takes care of her best friend Sophie’s little dog Sputnik, while Sophie’s family is on summer vacation in Hungary. When school starts again in fall, however, Sophie doesn‘t come back. Fritzi has to help Sputnik find Sophie. By chance, Fritzi stumbles into a demonstration and commits to changing their country for the better….
