Guidelines For Serving Ones

  1. Prayer – Before and during the conference, we should pray very much, both personally and corporately to be those who are vital before the Lord. Also, pray for the young people and the conference in a thorough way – practical arrangements, the messages, the group times, singing, and anything else the Lord may bring to our consideration, especially with this new format for carrying out the conference.

  1. Atmosphere of Love – The group times are the most important part of the conference and we should do our best to build up a loving, positive, mutual and age-appropriate atmosphere.

  1. Atmosphere of Prayer – We should do our best to stir up and maintain an atmosphere of prayer in our group. This begins with us as serving ones, opening ourselves to the Lord. If we are a person of prayer, we will bring a spirit of prayer to our group – stirring up a praying spirit in the young people. We should also allow adequate time for prayer within our group times.

  1. Blending and Coordination – Exercise to serve in a blended way and with a harmonious coordination with the other serving one(s) in your group. Our being in one accord will afford the Lord a way to bless all our service with the young people.

  1. Facilitate the function of the Young People – Our function is to facilitate their function, not dominate the time with lengthy speaking, but being a pattern of one who is exercised in our spirit - open, new, living. This will keep us from being dead and boring.

  1. Speaking - Be a pattern of being open to the Lord’s speaking and testifying about what touched you, do not preach to them or exhort them or rebuke them. Also, when we share, endeavor to give the young people an experiential impression of the points. Apply them to their actual situation so that they can be ushered into the same experience of the matters presented in the messages and reading.

  1. Be Positive & Flexible – Our goal is to cooperate with the Lord to shepherd the young people. As we carry out the conference in the virtual format, we should endeavor to be positive with the young people and one another. We need to be flexible in our spirit so that the Lord would have a way to speak to all those participating in the conference, especially the young people.
