A different way to create a new future

To create something different we must try something different. Anyone who is passionate about contribution to society would voluntarily sign up to a 'community code of conduct'. Unlike now where there is no quality control for those in public office. In future those wishing to lead would be held accountable to a 'community body' so that the people have some guarantee from those that serve us .

This would be a self policing body set up to ensure its members are demonstrating the behaviours becoming of those performing leadership roles. They can achieve this by practicing the 6 Habits shown below. [... the 21st century life skills handbook is available via the documents page]. Anyone in the community can register a complaint to the body if they feel that the code is being violated.

Everyone can be part of the solution

  1. Everyone participating is free from the pressure of meeting the needs or expectations of others
  2. Everyone is encouraged to make choices. Follow when appropriate, sometimes lead and at other times, find their own way
  3. The only right way is that there is no right way

Principles to develop the skills of being a great human being

  1. Everyone is important
  2. Everyone should be respected
  3. Everyone should be heard
  4. Everyone should be able to contribute
  5. Everyone is equal
  6. Everyone has value
  7. Everyone is on their own journey (no judgement)

6 Habits to prevent leaders from implementing fixed ways to get things done.

Habits 1 to 3 help Team leaders listen to their team members as their team enjoys cooperating as they share a journey into the unknown without fixed ways of doing things.

Habit 1: Team leaders will try to only tell team members what to do... only if the team member has asked the team leader to tell them what to do. (Team leaders try to avoid assuming team members will always want to know what the team leader thinks)

Habit 2: Team leaders will try to recognise when team members say stop, and stop. (Team leaders try to avoid finding ways to increase the pressure to make team members do as the team leaders says).

Habit 3: When things are not going the team leaders way, the team leader will try to ask themselves, what have they missed? (Team leaders will try to avoid thinking they need to keep going ignoring what others say.)

Habits 4 to 6 help Team leaders to be kind to others and themselves as the team enjoy cooperating as they share a journey into the unknown without fixed ways of doing things.

Habit 4: Team leaders try to make choices to minimise the spread of badwill to team members, others not in the team, and themselves. (Team leaders try to avoid giving more badwill back)

Habit 5: When things go wrong, Team leaders try to make choices to nudge themselves to a better place where they feel less of a victim. (Team leaders try to avoid blaming team members, others not in the team, and themselves)

Habit 6: Team leaders try to make choices to give goodwill to others and themselves. (Team leaders try to avoid always thinking, the greater good is always more important than the individual needs of team members, others not in the team, and themselves)
