Mark constantly finds creative ways to provide deeper learning for his students, at the same time keeping them engaged. Having the laptops on his room has enabled him to use a variety of appropriate technologies to collaborate and communicate. He uses groups effectively and you can tell that the students see the technology as a normal, daily element of learning- not just a computer that's pulled out occasionally.
I use Google Classroom on a daily basis:
Padlets - I use these for students to display information when working in groups or individually.
Students seem to like Padlet and the teacher has a lot of power to control what students put on there.
Questioning Feature of Google Classroom
Pear Deck gives teachers the ability to insert questions, polls, and a variety of interactives into a Slides presentation. Students view the presentation and complete the embedded tasks as they learn keeping them more engaged than just listening to a lecture. They can ask questions, draw on the slides, record, answer, etc. Teachers get all the data from each activity in the slide presentation. Pear Deck is an Add-onto Google Slides that can be added to any teacher computer.
Quizlet Live is used as vocabulary review each day and makes a great activity to jump start a lesson. Quizlet Live automatically creates groups. When a question is asked, the answer is only on one of the students computer in the group. Collaboration is necessary to determine who has the correct answer.
