"Branch pickup is shifting to one spring collection and one fall collection.
BRANCH PILE SIZE: 3 feet in Height, 4 feet in Depth/Width, 10 feet in Length.
Branches must be placed in front of the home in the city right-of-way, not in an alley, and must be placed away from fences, overhanging limbs, power lines and water meters."

City residents also can also drop off branches year-round, weather permitting, at Evans Recycling.

Spring: April
Fall: November
"The $2.00 stickers are not required on yard waste bags during the city's yard waste pickup programs, held in the spring and fall. Spring collection is usually held in April. Fall collection is usually in November. "

Effective January 1, 2012, consumer electronics of many types has been banned from all Illinois landfills, meaning they can no longer be placed in the trash.
The following Springfield businesses have been approved to accept electronics for recycling (call before taking your items to verify that they will accept what you have):
* Best Buy (888-237-8289)
* BLH Computers (217-585-1580)
* Goodwill (217-789-0400)
Some electronics recyclers charge a $10 disposal fee for each CRT monitor or television.
City of Springfield sponsors a recycling program which allows City residents to recycle up to three CRTs for free, with proof of residency.
The Illinois EPA provides information regarding disposal of household hazardous waste.
New hauler for program beginning April 3, 2017.
"City residents are eligible for free scheduled residential curbside pickup twice (2x) per calendar year. Pickup can be divided into two (2) pickups of three (3) items per scheduled pickup or one (1) scheduled pickup of six (6) items."
Electronic Items are not included in this program

Don't just throw unwanted medication in the trash or flush it down the drain! Here is an alternative.
