Classroom Environment - April 20, 2023

When first stepping into the classroom it feels bright. With the yellow paint and the artistic drawings on the walls, it looks pretty to see. Since the air con works it's comfortable to be inside. Not only that, but we can also eat in class and clean afterwards. That's why the classroom is always clean.

Since we are facing everyone in class, I remember all of my classmates name and their faces. We also ask each other questions and get to know each other. Sometimes we'll be asked a personal question and that helps us to get to know each other more. We do other activities like the service learning, and that makes us meet new people that are not in our classroom period. I like how I'm also not afraid of speaking in front of my classmates because I am already comfortable with talking to them.

Be A Tourist Field Trip Reflections - March 29, 2023

1. What were your impressions of Guam from the perspective of a tourist? (comment on Guam's sceneries, cleanliness, ease to visit, signages, uniqueness, etc. what is your overall view of Guam as a tourist destination?). Be detailed - comment on each site (what you like, dislike, etc.).

In my opinion, it kind of seemed dull. Like there's not much to do around the island. There wasn't a lot of activities or festivals. I thought the scenery was relaxing, but the lack of color made it less fun. As for the cleanliness, it was okay. I mean a few trash piles here and there, but it wasn't like a whole dumpster was dumped there. Like when we went to Emerald Valley it was beautiful, but then there was like some trash in it that kind of ruined it.

2. What recommendations do you have to improve Guam's scenic and historic sites?

More pictures. Either printed, painted, or even sculpted. It would attract a lot more tourist and it would be fun to take pictures with it and look at it. There should also be a lot more activities to do. Like laser tag, paintball, or even something to represent our culture. Something like making your own coconut candy or Chamorro cookies. Perform more chants at the beach or at Two Lovers Point.

3. Which were the places that you visited for the first time? Which was your favorite site and why?

I've never been to Ricardo J. Bordallo Governor’s Complex, Adelup, so I was suprised that I've never visited it before. My favorite was definitely Two Lovers Point because the scenery was nice and I liked the pictures that told the stories of the couple.

4. Which team gave the best presentation? Explain. And if you were in a presentation team, comment on how your team did.

Fritz's team gave the best presentation because when Fritz started, she looked like she knew what she was doing. The whole team also didn't use their phones to remember their lines because they already knew it. As for my team I think we had a good location of where to present. We also did a good job, but I think we could've been better if we didn't keep glancing at our phones. Other than that, our volume was good enough for everyone to hear us.

5. What was your biggest surprise about the whole field trip?

I didn't expect to go to Emerald Valley.

6. Please comment on our Lam Lam Tours bus driver, Mr. Mike Santos (How well did he do his job, what was the bus condition?).

The bus was really nice, and I liked the smell once you come in. It smells brand new. As for the bus driver, he was nice and made us go to shortcuts to reach our destination faster. Which made us complete every destination and even squeezed in an extra trip.

7. What would you change if we were to redo this field trip? (Sorry, we cannot change the weather or our climate).

Get more food and a drink. Just something I can have at home and snack on it. Other than that I wouldn't change anything.

Everfi Financial Literacy Certification Reflection - February 17, 2023

1. How useful was this course to you?

It helped me understand the difference between a credit and debit card.

2. What were the easiest and most difficult modules?

The part where it's talking about how to open an account.

3. What additional topic would you like for this course to cover? (investments, Social Security, retirement, etc.)
Retirement

4. Why would you recommend this course?

That way I'll know what I can do when I'm retired and I need money.

Library Presentation - February 3, 2023

What?

We did a presentation about hospitality and tourism, so that we can show the freshmans what hospitality is all about. We talked about what we do, what we need, and what kind of opportunities we can give. This presentation was made to make the freshmans interested in joining hospitality and tourism. We do this every year to recruit upcoming sophmores. That way, we have more hospitality students.

So what?

I didn't prepare my speech, so I was really nervous. My partners were Raynold and Edrick. We had different parts that we agreed to talk about, but some of them we didn't know how to explain. We helped each other with the parts we didn't know what to talk about. It was quite difficult trying to keep them interested, but they were nice and asked us some questions.

Now what?

Now when we start presenting again, I would practice my speech. That way, I would know what to say. I would also bring a fan because it was starting to get hot in the library. I would bring a tie too, so that we would show them a demonstration on how to tie a tie. That's all that I would do differently.

Service-Learning Hours: 5

Japan Autumn Festival - November 19, 2022

What?

It was my first time attending the Japan Autumn Festival. The event was about appreciating the harvest and wish for a good crop in the future. It's usually celebrated every year, but this is the first time in a while after covid. I got my health certificate so that I can help Chef Kai with the food. All I did was help prepare the food.

So what?

When I had a bit of a taste on how things work, it was a great experience. Of course, there was some difficulties, but my teammates and I worked through it together. My teammates and I were trying to work fast, but careful. When we ran out of supplies on our side, we went to other teams to help out. I was mostly standing in the corner because all the teams had enough help.

Now what?

Next time I do an event like this, I would hydrate a lot. I had water, but I had to wait until I had a break which felt so long. I was getting dehydrated fast too whenever I was done just drinking. That's all I would change. The food was really good, so I wasn't starving.
