In the late 1960's America was deep into the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam War. The American people were protesting against the war among other rising issues in the country such as women's equality and racial equality. Civil rights activist Malcolm X was assassinated in 1965 and Martin Luthier King Jr. was assassinated in 1968
Truss Events
Activists were fighting for women's rights and gay rights. There were environmental movements and the decade ended with the Watergate scandal, the energy crisis and the ongoing Vietnam War for the world's attention. The 1970s were also known for the rise of disco, but it was also an era of economic struggle, cultural change and technological innovation.

We had the Pentagon Papers were published they had that major documentary show the selling of the Pentagon which was really shocking about how they had marketed the war and they had market marketed the military got the eighteen-year-old vote passed and became the law." -Connie Harold
