Yoshikuni Teramoto has been an Associate Professor in Division of Forest and Biomaterials Science, Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University, since 2019. He studied wood science and technology at Kyoto University, where he conducted his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Yoshiyuki Nishio. In 2005, he joined Biomass Technology Research Center of National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology (AIST) (Hiroshima, Japan) as a Research Scientist. In AIST, he worked with Dr. Takashi Endo mainly on the conversion of woody lignocellulosic biomass into liquid fuel. In 2008, he moved back to Kyoto University as an Assistant Professor and spent five years. His work has included material functionalization of cellulosic polysaccharides via molecular multicomposition and supermolecular structure control. The series of work was recognized by the Early Career Investigator Award, the Cellulose Society of Japan (2012). In Gifu, he was expanding the subjects on his research such as application of nanocellulose and nanochitin with life scientific viewpoints, cellulosic filler filled plastic composite materials, electrical/optical/magnetic functional materials based on cellulose derivatives, clarification of the existence forms of wood components with polymer scientific methodology, and so on. In Apr 2019, he has moved back again to Kyoto University.
