January Jubilee Steel Academy STEM Workshop
Steel Magnolias will be running a workshop running the Cork Boat kits. It will be held at Pompton Lakes High School on January 26th from 9-10:30am. Kids will complete the kits, receive a demo from Steel Magnolias, and are invited to attend the January Jubilee Scrimmage as spectators. Fill out this form to register.
Steel Academy STEM is a STEM initiative created by FTC Team 17009 Steel Magnolias to give kids access to hands-on STEM activities. There are currently 3 projects avalible.
Cork Boat Battle!
Our 2024-2025 Steel Academy project, kids grades 2nd-5th learn about forces, center of gravity, and the engineering design process.
Spongebots
Our 2023-2024 Steel Academy project was Spongebots. Kids grades 3-5 learn about propulsion and the engineering design process.
Catapult Carnival!
Updated in 2024, this project allows grades 2-6th to build their own miniature catapults. While learning the basic physics of projectile motion as well as the history catapults, kids get a chance to compete in fun games!
