The 16th HAA Conference will be held in the village of Wilderness, Western Cape, South Africa
Information about Wilderness can be found here.
Wilderness is about 20 – 30 minutes drive from George Airport; 5 – 6 hour drive from Cape Town; 13-hour drive from Johannesburg; 3 – 4 hour drive from Gqerbeha (Port Elizabeth); 18-hour drive from Windhoek; 20-hour drive from Maputo; 25-hour drive from Harare, 15-hour drive from Gabarone.
Wilderness is near the Garden Route National Park (SANParks)
and the Outeniqua Nature Reserve (CapeNature)

There is also the option for camping, or booking small basic cabins at the SANParks Wilderness Rest Camp, <10 minutes' drive from the Conference Venue.

Getting to The Wilderness Hotel
Please note that George is a small town and lifting apps (Uber etc) might not be your best choice for transport from the airport to Wilderness. Uber is available in the area, but we cannot ensure there are ample vehicles.
It is approximately 20 minutes from the airport to Wilderness so booking a shuttle, finding a lift with a friend, or driving might be more reliable options.

NB: You must directly contact shuttle companies for advance booking and quotations. Airport transfers are not organised as part of the conference.
Driving directions:
Driving from George:
When exiting the airport, turn right onto R404; turn left to merge onto N2; take the exit on the right and continue on the N2; turn left onto George Rd. In 400 m, the hotel will be on the left.
Driving from Cape Town:
Simply stay on the N2 for about 437 km, then turn left onto George Rd. In 400 m, the hotel will be on the left.
Driving from Johannesburg:
Take the N1 south to Colesberg, and from there, take the N9 south until it meets the N12 (past Uniondale). Take the N12 south, through Outeniqua Pass into George and follow signs to the N2 (east) to Wilderness. When at Wilderness, don't forget to turn left into the village and the hotel will be on the left after 400 m.
Driving from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth):
When exiting the airport, turn right onto Allister Miller Dr; turn left onto Forest Hill Rd; turn right onto the M9/Walmer Blvd; turn left onto the M4/Hulmewood Rd; after about 10 km take the left exit onto the N2 and stay on the N2 until you reach Wilderness (about 320 km). When at Wilderness, don't forget to turn right into the village and the hotel will be on the left in 400 m.
