EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
There are many place to look when you are faced with hardship. Check out all the organizations below to learn more about eligibility and requirements to participate in their financial assistance programs.
SARGE Grant through eangus-wcfa.org We know you all use this resource frequently. SMs should include all expenses in the request (food, housing, clothing, etc), regardless of the grant limit of $500. The contact information for the grant is listed at the bottom of the webpage…once the grant request is submitted, recommend the SM call the number and let them know they submitted a request, to potentially expedite the process.
Air Force Aid Society: afas.org The Air Force Aid Society is a great option. When unexpected emergencies arise, there is a financial need and help is needed, AFAS provides no-interest loans and/or grants to help meet immediate needs. When an evacuation order has been issued, Airmen and Guardians without government travel cards may request a no-interest loan from AFAS. Amounts may be determined by HQ AFAS

We understand the challenges that our active-duty service members (to include activated Guard/Reserve members) and their families can face, and we believe that experiencing financial difficulties should not be one of them. That's the premise behind the VFW’s Financial Assistance for Service Members program.
The Financial Assistance for Service Members program is here to help America's active-duty service members (to include activated Guard/Reserve members) and their families who have run into unexpected financial difficulties because of deployment or other military-related activity or injury. The program provides financial assistance up to $2,500 to assist daily necessities in the form of a grant – not a loan – so no repayment is required. To further ease the burden, we pay the creditor(s) directly.
Assistance limited to post 9/11 (2001) Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, including Reservists and National Guard members in VA hospitals as well as mental health, rehabilitation and substance abuse programs.
Must provide letter from a doctor, therapist, or case manager confirming participation in ongoing inpatient or outpatient program.
Reason for financial assistance must be medical or military related due to VA service-connected rating.
