Bringing History to Life!
13th Continental Regiment
Welcomes you, and thank you for visiting. We invite you peruse our website, and time travel with us in the recreated 18th Century. The mission of the contemporary organization, based in Rehoboth, MA, is twofold: To accurately recreate the lifestyles, clothing, equipment, drill, battle scenarios, and encampment of the men, women, and children of the original 1774 Company as closely as possible. Secondly; to provide an educational resource to the public and to further the understanding of the early portion of the American War for Independence. We enjoy doing what we do, and hope you will as well!
The original 13th Continental Regiment was formed by consolidating the remnants of Timothy Walker's Regiment and David Brewer's Regiment with the remnants of Read's Regiment. Colonel Joseph Read commanded this regiment throughout 1776. As a regiment on the right wing of the army at Boston, it was ordered to furnish details for the Fortification of Dorchester Height’s. Read's regiment remained with the Main Army, moving to New York City in April. The 13th served in Trenton and Princeton.
