130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade

The 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade's parent unit was constituted on 19 April 1861 as the 1st Regiment North Carolina Volunteers, then officially organized on 6 March 1911 in North Carolina National Guard at Charlotte as Company D (Hornets' Nest Rifles), 1st Regiment of Infantry. The unit was first mustered into Federal service on 19 June 1916 for service on the Mexican border. After consolidating into the 105th Engineers in 1917, it was formally inducted into Federal service on 16 September 1940 at Charlotte as Headquarters and Service Company, 105th Engineers. It was reorganized and redesignated on 1 October 1978 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 30th Engineer Brigade. On 1 September 2006, the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade received its present designation as part of the Army's transformation and modularization process. The unit has participated in campaigns in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and most recently in Operations Iraqi Freedom. The unit has received multiple decorations including the Presidential Unit Citation, three Meritorious Unit Commendations, and Iraqi Campaign Streamer, two French Croix de Guerres, the Belgian Fourragere, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
