My project is over the inequality between women and men in the social work field. Although women make up 80% of the field and men only 10% they still hold higher positions. I want to focus on what we as women can do to help ourselves and others with this issue. One thing we can do is speak up together about raises or more promotions and hopefully fix the gender pay gap. Another thing we can do is make, work for and or support any women owned businesses/ corporations to help prevent gender discrimination as well as have empowerment programs that hope to remove the barriers against them. There’s many more ways to help this issue and i would like to add that I’m not saying men shouldn’t join the social work profession, but it’s mainly women out there in the field being hands on so they see what needs to be done and can provide the correct resources to make those changes without gender discrimination.
