Experimenting with primary colours to complete their creations. Tamariki were really happy to see their creations, not too much disappointment with broken pieces.

Creatives in Schools is a new programme in which professional artists and creative practitioners partner with schools and kura to share their specialist knowledge and creative practice with students/ākonga.
Local artist Maia Hegglun will work with groups of tamariki from across the school to develop creative representations of our school's cultural narrative. Through participation in the project the tamariki will develop skills in drawing, sculpting and carving.
Following this Maia will work in ongoing consultation with the students to pull their ideas and creations into final cohesive, shared representation of our cultural narrative. This will be in the form of a 2-D artwork and 3-D Oamaru stone sculpture.
Maia will conduct 1 hour sessions with groups of 8-12 students from each whānau. Teams will be responsible for selecting these students.
