I'm New to NGSS...

The NGSS intertwine 3-dimensions of science:

        1. science and engineering practices (SEP's)
        2. disciplinary core ideas (DCI's)
        3. crosscutting concept (CCC's)

The graphic below shows the components of each of the 3-Dimensions of the NGSS.

Each standard is written as a performance expectation (PE) and includes each of the 3-dimensions. Each PE is coded with the grade level (K-12), domain (Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, or Engineering, Technology, and Applications of Science), and specific standard number.

"K" for kindergarten,

"ESS" for Earth and Space Science,

"2" for Earth's Systems,

"1" for the specific grade level performance expectation.

Below each standard, Common Core connections are indicated, showing which grade-level CCSS's are integrated into the NGSS Performance Expectation.
