It is ALWAYS okay to help with math, even if you were taught something different. Show your child how you know how to solve something, even if it is different from how we do it in class.

The most challenging math we do in grade 2 is addition and subtraction within 1,000 with regrouping.

All students do math in both English and Spanish this year. Your child will need to be able to count to 1,000 in Spanish.

Make sure your chid can count to 100.

Then count to 100 by 10's.

Then count backwards by 10's.

Then count to 1,000 by 10's.

Then count backwards and forwards by 10's.

Then start from different numbers, what about 357?

Can your child count by other numbers? By 5's? By 2's?
