Tile 1 Information:

What is Tile 1

A title 1 school is a school receiving federal funds for Title 1 students. The basic principle of Title 1 is that schools with large concentrations of low-income students will receive supplemental funds to assist in meeting student's educational goals.

  • Strategically and effectively ensure that funding supports student achievement through many opportunities.

  • Purposefully aligning programs and support for identified schools.


Title 1 Supports or Provides

  • Additional funds for schools to provide reading, math, science, and social studies tutoring

  • Additional field trips for learning opportunities such as the Sandler Center

  • Professional Learning opportunities

  • Supports the schools improvement process through accreditation

  • Imagine Learning for K-2

  • Instructional resources for classrooms and tutors

  • POV may offer traditional services beyond the listed items

Each VBCPS Title I school develops a parent engagement policy and compact that specifically outlines how we'll work together to help our students learn, grow and engage with the educational process.
