Gifted Application and Old Donation School Application:
Applications must be completed and submitted in order for your child to be tested.
This application will allow your child to apply to Old Donation school (ODS), ODS Art program and Dance program.
To log in to the application, you will need your child's number/student ID and their password. Ask your child for this information or their teacher.
If your child is not currently identified as gifted and you would like them tested please complete an application. A completed application will begin the testing process. Important dates to remember.
January 8th parents of students in Grades 2-5 complete application by 5pm.
January. 8th all students applying to Old Donation School must be completed by 5 pm. Students with a completed application will be tested.
February 1st all students applying for gifted dance and/or art must complete an application by 5 pm. Art students must turn in portfolio drawings to the main office addressed to Mrs. Betancourt the gifted resource teacher at New Castle ES.
Is there anything I need to do before I begin an online application?
If you are going to submit an online gifted application, you should speak with the Gifted Resource Teacher (GRT) at your school prior to submitting the application. The GRT will be able to guide you through the application process and answer any questions you may have about the process and/or the gifted program itself.
How do I log in to the application site?
Parents will need to login to the Gifted Application Management Site using their child’s VBSchools credentials (use your child’s Username and Password that they use at school). Passwords are changed quarterly. If you are having problems with the Username and Password, you should contact the child’s homeroom teacher to see if it has been changed.

Who will administer the testing?
VBCPS central office staff and building level administrators trained in the administration of gifted assessments will administer the screening.
What should I do to prepare my child for testing?
A good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast are the only preparation necessary.
What if my child is absent on his/her school’s scheduled testing date?
All schools will have a scheduled testing date and one make-up date so that students that are absent have a second opportunity to be screened. The school’s GRT will notify parents of the scheduled make-up date.
How do I interpret my student's test scores?
Each test/subtest provides a score and a percentile.
Who determines if my child is gifted?
All information is reviewed by the VBCPS Gifted Identification and Placement Committee to determine identification for intellectual gifted services.

What if my child has an IEP/504 Plan?
Testing accommodations as noted in the IEP or 504, will be followed for all testing completed by the Gifted Education Testing Office.
How can I access the results of my child’s screening for gifted services or test scores?
Scores are posted on ParentVue. If you need assistance accessing your ParentVue account, please contact 757.263.1111 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
