What Alumni Have to say about hsa

HSA '07
The Health Sciences Academy was the affirmation I needed to continue pursuing a career as a physician. It gave me the chance to learn the material that I was actually interested in and in turn, gave me an advantage in college and even in medical school. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity I was given at Bayside and will always look back on my years there with fond memories as I continue on my way to becoming an Emergency Medicine Physician.
Nicole Gabriel, Speech Pathologist
HSA '07
The academy played a huge role in my discovery of speech/language pathology through the clinical rotations opportunities. It solidified my desire to work in the healthcare field and fueled my thirst to pursue UVA as my college of choice. The curriculum helped me greatly with my college courses. I had a great foundation of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology going into college. This carried into my graduate studies as well.
KIM PROSSER, Nurse Practitioner
HSA '09
The teachers I had in the Academy nurtured my love of medicine and the variety in courses gave me a head start amongst my nursing peers as I knew basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. My favorite memories are learning anatomy from Mr. Hamilton and the cool courses we got to take like Hereditary Medicine and Forensics. Being in the Academy shaped me into what I am today— a proud Nurse Practitioner on the frontlines of this pandemic.

The HSA played an integral part in jump starting my education and interest in the medical field. It provided a strong foundation and better prepared me for college coursework. I would recommend this great program to everyone who has aspirations of doing anything medically related!!
