PLEASE NOTE: The process for 1st and 5th graders is different than 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders.

Note: Application for identification and Old Donation School is the same application. To apply for ODS, you must check off the ODS box. Students who apply for identification and ODS but are not accepted at ODS will automatically be enrolled in cluster program at the local school.

Step 1: Application: Parents must fill out an application on their child. Applications can be found at https://giftedapplication.vbcps.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f. The login credentials is your child's Chromebook login information. Check the due dates on the main testing page. Step 2: Testing: Students will complete two tests: the Naglieri Nonverbal Test (NNAT3) and the CogAT Abilities test. A gifted testing specialist will come to Glenwood Elementary School to test your child. All 504 and IEP accommodations will be followed during testing. Please see the main testing page for the date of test.
Step 3: The Gifted Resource Teacher will complete their sections of the application. All applications will have a portion filled out by the classroom teacher on gifted characteristics they observe in the classroom. You don't need to do anything for this step.
Step 4: Identification: Identification decisions are made by the Gifted Identification and Placement Committee. The committee looks at the entire application to determine identification. You will receive an email informing you of the committee's decision. Typically, this email will come about the second week in March.
Step 5: Old Donation School Placement: If you checked the Old Donation School box on the application and your child was identified during step 4, his or her application will go to the Old Donation School placement committee. If he or she is not accepted at ODS, he or she will automatically be placed in the cluster program at Glenwood Elementary.
