JAZZ ENSEMBLE (BEGINNING BAND)

• The Kellam Jazz Ensemble is made up of some of our most capable and talented students.  The course is intended to be a second course for most students involved.  Enrollment availability is based on Instrumentation needs each year. 

• Director approval is REQUIRED for this course. 

• Students intending to be in the Jazz Ensemble should sign up for BEGINNING BAND. 

CONCERT BAND PERCUSSION (INTERMEDIATE BAND)

• In order to help our Concert Band students achieve greater success, our band students will be split by homogenous instrument families.  This course is specifically designed to address the needs of our PERCUSSION students. 

• Students intending to be in the Concert Band as PERCUSSIONISTS should sign up for INTERMEDIATE BAND. 

CONCERT BAND WINDS (ADVANCED BAND)

• In order to help our Concert Band students achieve greater success, our band students will be split by homogenous instrument families.  This course is specifically designed to address the needs of our WINDS students.  Students in this course should play one of the following instruments:

  • Flute/Piccolo

  • Oboe/English Horn

  • Bassoon

  • Bb Clarinet

  • Bass Clarinet

  • Alto Sax

  • Tenor Sax

  • Bari Sax

  • Trumpet

  • F Horn

  • Trombone

  • Baritone/Euphonium

  • Tuba

• Students intending to be in the Concert Band as a WIND INSTRUMENT should sign up for ADVANCED BAND.

• All students interested in orchestra should sign up for MU9237.  Contact Orchestra Director Mr. Matthews to discuss options.  Mr. Matthews will then advise the School Counseling Dept. as to which specific orchestra courses to place each student.
