FUN RUN!!!

By, Aubrey S., Logan H., Jade S., Adelyn.B and Dominic S.

Everyone was pumped about the Boosterthon Fun Run this year! Rockin Rachel, Josh Jam, Yo Yo Elbow, and Taekwondo Terry came this year to get us going and helped to make sure we had a great Fun Run.

The Fun Run is an event where you run laps to earn money for our school. You run 30 to 35 laps around half of the soccer field outside. You earn money for the school by getting pledges from your family and friends. You can move up on the “pledgometer” and get prizes for the pledges you collect. This Boosterthon event means prizes, running and most importantly building character.

At the Fun Run when they call your classes’ name you run through this big tunnel. Before you go to the Fun Run you get a Christopher Farms T-shirt that has 30-35 boxes for your lap marks, but you can go over the limit. They give water there so you could drink it or poor it on yourself. It was awesome!

Egg Drop

By Bailey C.

Christopher Farms Elementary held an egg drop on Halloween October 31st. The 5th grade classes used the scientific method to set up this experiment. Students made a container to have an egg survive a 40 ft drop onto the school parking lot. We had fun!

Halloween

Jade S, Arielle P., and Kennedy A.

One of our favorite holidays is Halloween. On October 31, everyone goes out with their little kids to go trick or treating in their neighborhood looking for their favorite candy. Trick or treating started in the 1920s in America. Today all kids between the ages of 1-12 go up to people’s doors, knock and say “trick or treat!” The people will give them candy and then they move on to the next door.

When we trick or treat in our neighborhood, kids wear scary and cool costumes. We see ghosts, scary costumes, and funny costumes. As we walk door to door to trick or treat we see decorated pumpkins called jack o lanterns. We see scary faces, cute faces, character faces and super hero faces carved on the pumpkins.

We hope you enjoy Halloween like we do, but just to make sure you don’t have any problems, here are 5 Easy Halloween safety tips for you!

1. You always want to wear a Halloween costume

2. You always want to find houses that have decorations on it

3. You want to stay in a group of people, like with your family

4. Always have a flashlight with you or wear reflective clothing

5. When you get home, ALWAYS have your Mom or Dad check your candy to make sure it’s safe for you to enjoy.

Fall Festival

By Cameron M., Lylla W., Adelyn B., Aubrey S., and Raegan M.

Once A year at CFES there is A Fall Festival. This year the Fall Festival was held on the 20th of October, 2017, at Christopher Farms Elementary School. The Fall Festival is a safe place where you can have lots of fun. This year there were many activities. There was a Haunted court yard, a photo booth, a silent auction, a cupcake walk, a creepy courtyard, games, and you could pie the teachers in the face!

Students at Christopher Farms could buy a ticket and get a pie and throw the pie in a teacher’s face. The students had a lot of fun doing that, but the teachers thought that they threw it too hard because their faces started to hurt.

There was a DJ the students had a lot of fun dancing with their parents and friends.

Most of the games were in the gym and the activities are in the hallway. At the Fall Festival if you won one of the games you would win tickets, and at the front of the building you could turn in your tickets to get prizes like key chains, tops, stencils, etc. Some of the games gave out multiple tickets while others give out a single ticket like there was a chopstick one where you had to pick up stuff with chopsticks and put them in a Chinese takeout box.

There also was balloon animals and you could dress up in your Halloween costume!

You could also decorate a pumpkin then fill out a slip of paper about the name of it and your , address for the competition. There was a wide variety of things to decorate your pumpkin like, lots of types of eyes and stickers and more.

This year's Fall Festival was a blast!

Don’t Believe What You See!

A Spooky Short Story

By Samantha N.

A Old guard stood on the other side as he heard a small tapping noise, as he carefully inched forward toward the museum door,{Which at this hour was supposed to be locked} the tapping grew louder when he opened the door he saw a cold, wet, poor pug wrapped in a blanket. He was shivering and covered in mud, he was skinny and tired, this dog obviously need to come inside.

This guard let the dog in, then he turned his back to get his water bottle in hope of lending the dog a drink. Well he was gone the dog scampered away toward the bathrooms. In the bathroom the dog changed into his real identity a Witch.

The old guard searched everywhere in order to find the pug. After a while he just gave up. He sat down put his legs up, then he dozed off. The witch cornered him a tied him up, but the guard was still sleeping. When the guard awoke, he was all tied up. He was startled, and tried to get out. But what he didn’t know was the ropes were on a spell.

Later after hour of trying to escape from the bewitched ropes, a voice sounded. Then the devious witch appeared, she spoke in a very normal almost human voice. She said ‘’ In order to escape you have to tell me a riddle’’ The guard pondered, what was a riddle that would stump the witch standing before me? Finally an idea came into the old guard's mind, then he spoke ‘’ How do you spell candy in 2 letters ?’’

The witch was stumped, what was the answer?

Finally she spoke, the words came out slowly but she said’’ I don’t know’’ The old guard replied ‘’ c and y’’. The roped suddenly lifted and then the witch turned back into the pug, and that was the way it all ended. The old guard never took the night shift again.
