This course introduces the concepts, levels, values, and distribution of biodiversity. It also examines threats to biodiversity, conservation strategies, protected-area management, ecological restoration, and national and international conservation frameworks.
This course explores the principles and practices of responsible nature-based tourism. Key areas include sustainable destination planning, community participation, visitor management, environmental interpretation, biodiversity conservation, and the social and economic impacts of ecotourism.
This course focuses on applying ecological principles to understand and manage interactions between human communities and their environment. It covers ecosystem processes, community-based conservation, natural-resource management, environmental health, and sustainable development.
This course examines wildlife populations, habitats, behaviour, ecological interactions, and conservation needs. Students learn methods of wildlife monitoring, habitat assessment, population management, human–wildlife conflict mitigation, and threatened-species conservation.
This course introduces marine and coastal ecosystems, including coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass meadows, salt marshes, lagoons, and estuaries. It also addresses marine biodiversity, coastal-resource use, environmental threats, marine protected areas, and integrated coastal-zone management.
This course examines the sources, pathways, effects, monitoring, and management of environmental pollutants. It covers air, water, soil, noise, thermal, light, odour, radioactive, and solid-waste pollution, together with pollution-prevention and control technologies.
