Wind Ensemble is our 9th - 12th grade ensemble. Instruments that are available to play in Wind Ensemble include:
Flute
Oboe
Clarinet
Bass Clarinet
Alto Saxophone
Tenor Saxophone
Baritone Saxophone
Trumpet
French Horn
Trombone
Euphonium
Tuba
Bass Guitar
Percussion
If your student REALLY wants to play an instrument that is not listed above, please email me directly at bdahlgren@vashonsd.org to discuss their options.
Wind Ensemble performs multiple times a year, including sporting events, pep rallies, concerts, community events, and more. The concerts typically take place during the week in the early evening. Concerts typically last between 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the performance.
The Pirate Pep Band consists of the members of the Wind Ensemble class. Any student enrolled in Wind Ensemble is expected to also perform in any Pep Band performances.

Your student will need certain items to particpate in Symphonic Band. All students will need:
Instrument itself (percussion will use school instruments, but are expected to have a snare & bell kit at home for practicing)
At least 10 Size #2-2.5 reeds
Instrument care kit (wind instruments only)
If you already have an instrument, please ensure that you purchase the remaining materials for your student so they are prepared for classes.
If the cost of these materials is problematic for you, please email me directly at bdahlgren@vashonsd.org so I can be of assistance. All students will have the option to participate in band, regardless of financial status.
