Mustang Band is our 1st-year player (typically 6th grader) ensemble. Instruments that are available to play in Mustang Band include:
Flute
Clarinet
Trumpet
Trombone
Percussion
If your student REALLY wants to play an instrument that is not listed above, please email me directly at bdahlgren@vashonsd.org to discuss their options.
Mustang Band performs three times a year; the Winter Concert, the Spring Concert, and the Pops Concert. The concerts typically take place during the week in the early evening. Concerts typically last between 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the performance.
After their first year of playing, students will have the option to change instruments if they so choose.

Your student will need certain items to particpate in Mustang Band. All students will need:
Instrument itself (Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, or Snare & Bell Kit)
Standard of Excellence Book 1 for that instrument
Folding music stand
10 Size #1.5-2 reeds (clarinet only)
Instrument care kit (wind instruments only)
If you already have an instrument, please ensure that you purchase the remaining materials for your student so they are prepared for classes.
If the cost of these materials is problematic for you, please email me directly at bdahlgren@vashonsd.org so I can be of assistance. All students will have the option to participate in band, regardless of financial status.
