Auditions will be on Wednesday and Thursday, September 24 and 25, 3–5 p.m. I will try to accommodate commuters, but if I need you to stay the full time I will let you know.
Wednesday auditions are your time, Thursday auditions are mine. I will give you notes from Wednesday, then you come back on Thursday for another try. Also I will try different combinations. And I want everyone to learn 8 measures of the Fates singing "When the Chips Are Down." I have changed my mind and only one you to learn one Fate -- you choose. (Only learn all three if you really want to show off.)
Step 1: Listen and sing
Listen to the Hadestown soundtrack (YouTube Music | Spotify). Listen to the snippets for each character. Pick a character to learn. You could get any part — I just want you to choose one for the audition.
Step 2: Come to singing sessions in September
I'm going to be leading group singing lessons once a week after school. As part of those lessons, I will do little sessions with anyone to work on their audition part.
Step 3: Practice at home
Work on these little audition snippets until you can sing them upside down, while skydiving, in your sleep — or all three. You should record yourself, listen, polish individual notes, the works.
As for what I want you to work on vocally, here is my guide:
