We need the strong support of adults in so many areas. This is a realistic inventory of the things that Mr. James has tried to do all by himself in the past, only to find himself getting squished.
Fill out the attached form to show your support; a coordinator will reach you for more details. In the meantime, here are the areas in which we need help the most:
Someone needs to keep the master calendar of the tasks throughout the year, the names and contacts of all the parent volunteers, and the record of progress. Someone -- not necessarily the same person -- needs to remind people of times and dates of their work. I personally support this being three people, so consider signing on as a trio.
Musicals are expensive. Hadestown is going to total about $15,000 -- which we will make back if all goes well. But having sponsors and donors on board will be absolutely vital. October is our Fund Drive month! Please help!
We need people for cleaning days and to adopt areas of backstage (prop shop, costume shop, etc.) for light maintenance and requesting supplies.
Actors go into a wind tunnel when productions begin; please supply food, or be a liaison for the crowded backstage area, or help drive kids to the ferry for our few late rehearsals.
Let's sign people up to take tickets, usher, and provide concessions -- let's sign them up very soon for the whole year! That would be a dream.
While I am directing, I cannot supervise backstage. The two hours after school become a sadly wasted time. If you can supervise groups, even while you play Wordle or file your nails, it can be an immense help. Or, if you have an area of expertise, lead a student group. (Please note that directing actors is, alas, both the most fun and the least-needed task.)
I have, alas, lived the tragic situation of having an excellent play that not enough people see because of poor publicity (my plate overfloweth). Help!
This has yet to launch effectively. Perhaps you can help?
A Booster Club can do so many things the school cannot do. The school is heavily constrained on how we can raise funds; a Booster Club is not. The school cannot buy used goods; the Booster Club can. One thing the school cannot do is help form the Booster Club. But we can say we would like to have one and point people at the materials that Jackie Merrill in the front office keeps on hand.
Sometimes we want to take kids to plays, workshops, or any other theatrically-oriented outing. Every time we have done one of these, it has been a blast -- and you can chaperone and join the fun that way!
