Welcome to "Joining Varndean School", a website dedicated to easing the transition from primary school to secondary school. Here, you will find all the information, updates and even some fun, interactive activities before joining us in September. Below, you will find all key information such as the Transition Pack that was sent out at the beginning of March, key dates leading up to September and helpful links. Key Events
Registrations completed
Shortly after the council notify you of your place at Varndean, we will send out a link asking you to complete your child's registration details online. There is no need to complete the standard council registration form.
Parent Welcome Events
Our first event is for parents and carers where we invite you into school to share some key information about how life at Varndean works.
Students informed of tutor groups
When creating tutor groups we take a number of considerations into account. We prioritise matching siblings in our smaller schools so that existing relationships can be continued with families and the School Base pastoral teams. We will also note the information you give in your registration along with the information we gather from your child’s current school. Rest assured we always aim for your child to join with someone they know and learn well with.
Uniform
Once you know your child's tutor group and school, you can purchase their uniform, available from Inter Sport, Lewes.
One to one meetings with your child's tutor
We will be inviting all families to a 1:1 tutor meeting so that we can get to know you and your child before they start with us.
Year 6 Transition Day
During the Transition Day, your child will come into Varndean School and will take part in multiple fun, interactive activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for Year 6 students to get to know their future teachers and peers.
Uniform
Please see the Inter Sport website, on which you can buy your child's Varndean School uniform. Please be advised, do not buy a school tie until you have been officially allocated a school. Full details of what uniform your child will need can be found on our main website: Uniform - Varndean School
