Top Hat is offering student licenses for free for the remainder of the semester. Top Hat is an active learning system at Valpo. They provide online testing with a locked down browser and classroom response system. Top Hat can be implemented quickly in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments.
Marco Polo combines texting, social media and video chats. The app protects your personal number, but allows students and instructors to message each other using quick video notes. all in one private, easy to use app.
Flipgrid is a free, simple way to foster short video-based discussions on classroom topics. Educators, learners, and families can use Flipgrid at school or at home to stay connected and share their continued learning experiences.
A GoBoard is a first-of-its-kind, free online tool that combines video conferencing with an interactive canvas, designed to help students collaborate one-on-one, on virtually any topic. Simply create a GoBoard, share the link, and begin sharing knowledge, face-to-face. There is never anything to download!
Testing Accommodations in Blackboard
Although classes have moved to an online format, students with testing accommodations are still legally entitled to extended time for exams provided the examinations of non-accommodated students will also be timed. Therefore, if a faculty member provides all students with two hours for an exam that should normally take 50 minutes, a student with extended time on tests and quizzes ( time and a half) is legally entitled to three hours.
Virtual Office Hours are available to faculty and instructors for questions related for distance learning consultation, instructional design/assessment, instructional technology consultation, and/or Blackboard questions or tutorials. Please sign up for a slot and drop in at that time.
