Overload courses are opportunities for students to get ahead on high school credit. Overload classes differ from dual credit courses, in that college credit is not received. A student will receive one high school credit. In order to be eligible, a student must be enrolled in a full semester (6 credits), or have taken a full semester previously if the course is for summer. Please see your assigned counselor for more information and how to get registered.
Ridgevue High School has highly qualified teachers who can provide our own in-house overload courses. Please refer to the list below regarding the courses offered. When enrolled in an overload course, please keep in mind the following guidelines:
Overload courses cost $225. A student may use their Advanced Opportunities Funds as long as they have turned in an Advanced Opportunities Form turned in.
If a student has not completed any work at the two week mark (as determined by the teacher), then the student will be automatically dropped from the course unless prior arrangements have been made with the teacher.
If a student would like to drop a course after the halfway mark, the student will be charged a $50 fee to compensate for the previously invested time.
Because Overload courses are paid for through Advanced Opportunities, the standards outlined in the Fast Forward Form are applied. Upon completion of the course, the student will receive the grade and credit on their high school transcript. If a student were to fail the class, an "F" would be placed on the high school transcript and Advanced Opportunities funds would be frozen. To access funds again, the student would need to pay for a "like class". This means the student would need to pay for another Overload class. Once one class has been paid, the student will be able to access his/her funds once again.
