Ever hit Send too soon or realized you forgot an attachment? Gmail’s Undo Send feature gives you a short window of time to take it back before the message actually goes out.
📘 Example:
If you notice a typo or forgot an attachment, click Undo immediately to correct and resend your message.
⚙️ Enable “Undo Send”
Click the ⚙️ Gear icon and select “See all settings.”
In the General tab, scroll to the Undo Send section.
Choose a cancellation period — 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds.
Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.
Once enabled, Gmail will display a small “Undo” option in the bottom-left corner after you send an email.
Clicking Undo stops the message from being delivered and reopens it in the compose window so you can make changes.
💬 Pro Tip: Set your cancellation period to 30 seconds — the longest option — for the best safety net. Those extra seconds can make all the difference.
💬 Pro Tip: Once the Undo window closes, the email is officially sent and cannot be retrieved, even by IT.
💬 Pro Tip: While you’re in the General tab, scroll to Default reply behavior and set it to “Reply” instead of “Reply all.” This helps avoid accidentally copying everyone on a group message.
