If you're using a Chromebook and need to print but don’t see a printer listed, you’ll first need to open the print menu. Here are the easiest ways to do that:
If you’re in Google Docs, Google Sheets, or another Google Workspace app:
Look for the printer icon 🖨️ in the toolbar.
Click it to open the print menu.
If there’s no print icon available, press:
Ctrl + P
This instantly opens the print menu on any Chromebook, website, or app that supports printing.
If no printers are listed, or if this is your first time printing from the Chromebook, you may need to add a printer.
You can include a follow-up section titled:
and I can help you write that too — including screenshots, step-by-step instructions, emoji indicators, and common issues (like needing to be on VacavilleUSD Wi-Fi).
Select the Print Destination Box
Click on "See More"
Click on "Manage Printers"
Click on "Add Printer Manually"
Under "Name", type in what you would like your printer to be called. It can be anything. Typically we name them by school site, room number and model number.
Under "Address" type in the IP Address of the printer you want to print to. You will find this number on the printer itself. It will look something like the picture above.
After you have entered in both the "Name" and "Address" click on "Add" at the bottom right
After that you should see your printer listed. The green dot indicates that the chromebook can detect the printer and you can start printing
Now we want to close all of those windows and go back to the beginning. Click on the print icon again or "CTRL" and "P".
Click on the Print Destination Box again.
Click on "See More"
Select your newly added printer
You're all set!
