To ensure a smooth and efficient use of our school’s network, streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and similar platforms are not allowed on the school network. it's essential that we use our network wisely to maintain a reliable internet connection for all students and staff.
The primary reasons for this decision are:
Bandwidth Consumption: Streaming video content consumes a significant amount of bandwidth. This heavy usage can lead to network congestion, slowing down the internet for everyone.
Network Stability: Excessive streaming can cause the network to bottleneck or even crash, disrupting online learning and administrative functions.
Educational Priorities: Our network resources need to be prioritized for educational purposes, including online learning platforms, research, and communication tools.
We recognize that video content can be a powerful educational tool. If you plan to use specific videos for instruction, we recommend downloading them in advance and playing them offline whenever possible.
Alternatively, platforms such as YouTube and the VUSD Plex Server are available for educational use. These services are optimized for classroom environments and place less demand on network bandwidth.
All media listed on the VUSD Plex Server is provided by the District. If you’re looking for specific content to support your curriculum, we’re here to help.
