The Vacaville Unified School District utilizes a variety of Microsoft Windows devices, including both desktops and laptops. While models may vary, the login process is the same on all devices. Follow the steps below to sign in to your district computer.
Turn on your computer. After it finishes booting up, you will see the lock screen.
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard to open the sign-in screen.
Occasionally, you may encounter this screen, which displays a key icon, PIN dots, and a smart card icon.
Click the key icon to access the standard sign-in screen
The sign-in screen will now display fields where you can enter your username and password.
Your username is not your full VUSD email address. It is your shortened network username. For example, Nathaniel Hope’s username would be NHope.
Enter your district password and then press enter.
If the login is successful, you will see your name along with a 'Welcome' message and a loading icon.
If your login attempt is unsuccessful, here are a few things to check before reaching out for help:
Check your username
Make sure you are using your shortened username (example: NHope), not your full email address.
Check your password
Passwords are case-sensitive—verify that Caps Lock is not on.
If you recently changed your password, use the most current password.
Restart your computer
Occasionally, a quick restart can resolve sign-in issues.
Confirm your network connection
If you are using a district laptop off-site, ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi or VPN if required.
If it still doesn’t work
Contact the Technology Help Desk or Technology Services Coordinator for a password reset or assistance.
