If a student is unable to sign in, it’s usually due to an incorrect S-Number or mistyped password. These issues are very common—especially at the beginning of the school year—so here’s what to check.
💬Pro Tip: If multiple students suddenly cannot log in on the same cart, the issue may be with the cart’s Wi-Fi or a temporary district sync delay—not the accounts themselves.
💬Pro Tip: For younger grades, teachers sometimes keep a printed roster of verified S-Numbers from Aeries to double-check during the first week of school.
Even though it may seem simple, the most frequent cause of login issues is incorrect login credentials.
Check the S-Number carefully.
Students sometimes:
Mix up numbers
Mistake a “5” for an “S”
Use an older S-Number from a previous year
Receive a misprinted number on their student card or folder
Confirm the password is correct.
Younger students often mix up letters (b/d, p/q).
Uppercase letters and special characters can be tricky on Chromebooks.
Students may be using last year’s password if it recently changed.
If the student still can’t log in, look up their information in Aeries to confirm:
The S-Number listed in Aeries matches what they are typing
The student’s legal name matches the account tied to the S-Number
The student hasn't been recently enrolled, transferred, or renamed (these can temporarily affect accounts)
This quick check resolves the majority of login issues.
Some students rush through typing. Encourage them to:
Type one character at a time
Say each character out loud (younger students especially)
Use the Show Password eye icon before submitting
Make sure Caps Lock is not turned on
At the login screen, click on the drop down arrow next to the account name. When the next window pops up, click on “Remove this user”. This will take the profile off the Chromebook completely.
After that, all you have to do is click “Add Person”, located at the bottom above the taskbar. Have the student sign in again from scratch with their S-Number and new password.
