If you discover that a Chromebook is missing from your classroom cart, don’t worry — missing devices are usually found quickly once the correct steps are taken. This page will walk you through what to do immediately and how the Technology Department can help track the device.
Before reporting a missing device, do a quick check:
Look through the entire Chromebook cart
Check nearby desks, counters, and small-group tables
Ask students if they may have returned it to the wrong slot
Check if the Chromebook was left charging elsewhere
Make sure it was not moved to another classroom temporarily
A surprising number of “missing” Chromebooks are simply misplaced within the room or cart.

Missing Chromebooks are often found in neighboring rooms, library spaces, or backpacks
Remind students to return Chromebooks before leaving class
Ensure carts are counted and checked before dismissing students
Most “missing” Chromebooks are located within minutes to hours — very rarely do they go far.
The Technology Department will work with your site to find the device and ensure it is returned to the correct room or cart.
