Documenting Your Conference Experience

Don't forget to get a photo of yourself giving your presentation! This will be required for your End of Travel Survey and is just a wonderful record of your experience.

Consider also sharing your photo via social media.  OUR loves to be thanked for Travel Award funding on social media - it's a great way for other UWF students to see what is possible! Don't forget to share details on which conference you attended and how the experience impacted you. Please tag OUR so we see it (@uwf_our).

Closing the Loop: Don't Forget Your Resume

It's a good idea to add your conference presentation to your resume or CV as soon as you return so you don't forget all the details! You could add your presentation as "Conference Presentations," or "Relevant Experience," or "Communication Experience," among other sections.

Here's an example of how you can list your presentation:

Smith, J., and E. Jones (2022).  Presenting author, oral presentation. Intentionally Interdisciplinary Geoscience Research: Cultivating Broad-based Engagement in Earth Science Research and Careers. American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting, San Francisco, CA.

Conference presentations also help students build skills that future employers will be interested to know about! Think about what skills you developed during your preparation for and engagement at the conference -- if you need ideas, check out the list of Transferable Skills on page 14 of the UWF Career Development Guide
