Through a gap year students can display their commitment to care, develop resilience and take responsibility for their actions and their impact on others. Students will develop independence and be required to manage their own time and set realistic goals. It is expected that challenges will arise during their gap year and students will need to show patience, creativity and collaboration in order to achieve their goals.
We generally encourage students to complete university applications prior to their gap year, and then defer their admission for a year - it's an option that many universities support. However, some students will opt to submit their applications during their gap year. Talk to your university advisor to discuss which option makes more sense for you!
