Wednesday Evenings at the Genome
The DNA Café Ice Cream Social
July 13, Aug. 10, and Aug. 18, 7-8PM PT
South Foege Vista Café
3720 15th Ave NE. Seattle, WA 98105
The DNA Cafe Ice Cream Social is an "Experimental Science Experience". Attendees will learn about genetics by dining at a metaphorical cellular restaurant, using genetic code to create their very own Ice Cream Sundaes.
We believe that if you can understand how a restaurant works, you can learn about genetics research.
This immersive experience is geared towards a general audience with no genetics background and is family friendly. This event is best for ages 8 and up, and great for adult learners interested in genetics (AND Ice Cream).
To maintain dining safety while physical distancing, please reserve a table for your dining party before the event. We will prepare tables beforehand to ensure we can accommodate you and your party at the event as capacity is limited in the Vista Café.
We Apologize, but All Tables are Reserved this Summer
July 13 - The DNA Menu (Apologies, this event is at capacity, No Tables Available)
Place your Ice Cream Sundae order from the DNA Menu. Research panelists will discuss their research into the mysteries of DNA.
Aug. 10 - Can I Take Your RNA Order? (Apologies, this event is at capacity, No Tables Available)
How do we figure out what ice cream "gene" orders are most popular? How might mRNA vaccines prevent Vegetable Virus Invasions? Research panelists will discuss their research into RNA and gene expression.
Aug. 17 - Building a Better Sundae (Apologies, this event is at capacity, No Tables Available)
In DNA Café Ice Cream Sundaes represent proteins in the cell. How do we measure ice cream "proteins" when they melt so easily? Research panelists will discuss their research into protein and mass spectrometry.
