Starting from travel patterns of the baseline scenario (the original trip table)
Apply lever 1: % pre-COVID commuters will work from home after COVID-19:
How: among the commuting tours, randomly select 40% and remove them from the trip table.
Note: Since some selected commuters ride transit, the share of transit trips in the modified trip table will be lower than that of the original trip table. This leads to about 26% reduction of the total transit ridership.
Apply lever 2: 15% transit riders switch to SOV:
How: among all the remaining transit riders after step 1, randomly select 15% and change their travel mode from transit to SOV.
Transit impact: compared with the original trip table, the transit ridership reduction is about 40%.
