MUSE Research Lab

I direct the MUSE Research Lab in the University of Washington's Information School (iSchool). MUSE brings together faculty and students who do original research in museums. My research sits at the intersection of museums, learning, and wellbeing. I study how and what people learn in museums, especially critical thinking, creativity, play, and social-emotional development. Relatedly, I study the role of museums in psychological wellbeing, as well as emotions such as awe, empathy, and compassion that influence both learning and wellbeing.
