Canvas LMS (Learning Management System) is the University of Washington's online platform used to deliver courses, manage learning activities, and support teaching. However, it's also like the central dashboard: it holds core course materials, but it also connects to a whole ecosystem of tools—so students might use Canvas for assignments one day, Panopto videos the next, and Zoom or Google Docs for collaboration, all without leaving the LMS.
This page provides info on the iSchool supported technologies that your instructor may use in your course. The TLT is happy to help if you're stuck, but UW IT is the most up-to-date help resource.
Guides: If you're having problems related to using the features of Canvas, try the Canvas User Guide by clicking the Help icon on the Global Navigation. You'll see the answer to virtually every question you may have about using this tool!

VoiceThread is an online, interactive presentation and discussion tool. It lets instructors and students create and share multimedia slideshows—using images, videos, documents, or presentations—and then have conversations around them. This link, Canvas VoiceThread for Students: Commenting in a VT, shows how to add multimedia, how to create a VoiceThread, and submit a VoiceThread assignment.
Panopto is a video management and lecture capture system that instructors can use to share course videos. Panopto has a lot of great player features. This link, View Panopto Recordings describes the player features and provides additional troubleshooting tips and contact information if you're having a problem.
Troubleshooting Tip: Panopto has certain permissions associated, and there is a known issue is that some students need to click the Panopto link on the course navigation menu (on the left of every page) the first time they use it in a course in order to activate the permission. After clicking the Panopto icon, a page refresh usually activates the permission for the rest of the quarter.
Some instructors may create Panopto assignments where you submit a video to the assignment.
