Ally generates alternative formats, such as text that is readable by a screen reader, electronic braille, or audio, to support students in engaging with digital content. One way to access the options is clicking the arrows shown to the right of uploaded files demonstrated below.
There are multiple options including the The Microsoft Immersive Reader (described in the section below).

To access Alt Formats in Canvas content (aside from uploaded files) such as pages, assignment instructions, and course syllabus, use tthe icon shown to the right..
This tool is included as one of the options in the Ally Alt Format tool. It has useful features that include the following.
Read Aloud: Converts text to speech so students can listen to the content.
Adjustable Voice Settings: Change speed and select different voices.
Focus Mode: Highlights individual lines or blocks of text to reduce distractions.
Font and Text Size: Adjust font style, size, and spacing.
Background Colors/Themes: Change background to improve contrast or reduce visual stress.
