Reflection

Meg Blake

1. Over this quarter I have learned so much about ethics, however, after reflecting over the last 10 weeks I feel that Dr. Shirley's lecture was the most significant to me. I found that her going over not one but two case studies to show us how an ethics committee is able to come to a final decision really helped me grasp the WHY we had spent time learning all about ethical theories.

2. This course will impact my future practice as a nurse as I now understand ethics and the multiple approaches when caring for patients. When handling end-of-life care specifically I will remember my time in this course and consider reaching out to an ethics committee for any ethical concerns. 

3. I think that team "Finish Line" has the best website. It is very well organized, and you can tell that the collaborated to ensure that the site was laid out to match each other's posts. I find the overall aesthetic to be very appealing and everyone's responses is thoughtful and clear. 

Beverly Sumanti

1.During the last ten weeks of this course, the page/topic which was the most significant to me was professional boundaries. This topic provided me new insight on different ways that nurses can cross professional boundaries. Learning about the different stories of nurses crossing boundaries has helped me gain a new perspective which will affect me in the future as a nurse.

2. I believe that this course will impact my practice in the future from the knowledge and awareness that I have gained on the various ethical topics. This course gave me a great experience while working together with a diverse group of team members to accomplish our website. I also believe that this course assisted me in gaining cultural awareness from working with the COIL students in Tokyo. 

3. I found that the team “Finish Line” had the best website. Their homepage is very bright with aesthetically pleasing colors and appears well organized. The homepage drew me into wanting to explore the rest of their pages which also had colorful images to draw attention to the readers. They were creative in the topics they chose to discuss  which I found interesting to read.

Sherwin Afable

1. I really appreciated Dr. Shirley's lecture regarding decision making capacity and ethics which is especially relevant in my specialty, oncology. Being diagnosed with cancer is often a life-changing event and a challenge for both the patient and their family. We need to be able to respect the wishes of the patient while also creating space for the family to be involved in the care decision making process. 

2. This class reminded me of the breadth and diversity of nursing practice. While we may be swamped with the logistics and workload of the job, we must always be aware of the ethical framework that sets the foundation for our nursing practice. 

3. I believe Ruby Rhinestones consistently have appealing visuals on all of their site pages and have done an excellent job in formatting their responses as well. The Ethical Theories page in particular looks almost like a magazine. Very legible and easy to read. 

Robel Anshebo

1. We've covered many increadible topics through the course of this class but my favorite has been the Coil discussions. During our meetings, we've been able to participate in a process of active learning. Our meeting were rich in understanding between our different cultures. It's was a pleasure to learn about Japanese healthcare practices practices. It's common knowledge that Japan has some of the longest lifespan among other countries in the world and its was insightful to learn about how individuals spend their time and care for their elderly population.
   
   

2. This class provided us with a toolkit to traverse our own experiences with ethical concerns including the concept of a good death for theor temrinally ill. I've learned to be more open minded and perceptive to different health practices and approaches.

3. I think Ethical Solutions Inc has the most concise and easy to browse website. I like their idea of placing the content bar on the left side of the screen. Overall, their site is easy to navigate and they did phenomenal job in organizing their site.
