ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARENTS let's team up to build a bright future for your children.
Tips for Elementary School Parents
Show your child that school is something you value by being involved.
Get to know your child’s teacher.
Attend parent-teacher conferences and ask questions about how your child is doing.
Ask your child what they like best and least about school.
Attend award ceremonies, athletic events, and PTO events to show you are invested in their education.
Establish routines that support learning.
Participate and encourage them with homework.
Visit different places where learning happens such as museums, libraries, state parks, and community events.
Drive through or visit college campuses when you’re in a town with a school – it’s not too early to start!
Encourage your child to dream big by talking with your child about:
Their own dreams for their life.
How their interests may relate to a job.
What kind of school or training they would need to have for that job?
Who do they know that does that work? Who could teach them some skills necessary for the job?
What makes that work interesting or exciting?
Encourage family and friends to share their career paths with your children.
Invest in your child's future
Start a college fund or savings account and make regular contributions.
Encourage family and friends to contribute to the college fund when gift-giving.
