Next annual meeting is on Friday, Nov 15, 2024 and the hands-on tutorial on Fri, Jan 10, 2025.
The materials from the meeting on Nov 10, 2023 and tutorial on Jan 12, 2024 are available to the IAP members.
Complex porous materials are a core component of current and future societal energy and water management solutions, whether they are natural or engineered. We develop new methods of characterization, data preservation, simulation automation based on multiscale imaging of porous materials and relating them to available measurements. Our research program objectives are to:
1. Improve effective property estimation in complex porous media including relative permeability to multiple fluid phases, mass/reactive transport, heat transport as well as electrical properties based on state-of-the-art simulation, experimental measurements and field observation (in geologic porous media).
2. Establish multiscale imaging and characterization workflows for porous and fractured media that unravel fundamentals of the relevant transport processes.
3. Automate porous media characterization and image-based simulation based on state-of-the-art machine and deep learning algorithms.
In the process, we will expand established repository Digital Rocks Portal (to be renamed Digital Porous Media Portal) that hosts data, benchmark sets for machine learning algorithms and relates simulation results with measurements.
Example agenda from the last Digital Rocks Petrophysics Industrial Affiliates Program (DRP IAP) Annual Meeting for 2021 can be found here. Presentation files and recorded materials are provided to the current IAP members, and can be shared with those strongly considering joining the IAP. We organize typically two tutorials/workshops and those materials are reserved for the members.
