Facing north is the entrance to the building. This Google Earth photo was taken at night, but people are still featured walking by since it's in the heart of Sendai.

The daily bus can be seen running through the streets. Commenters on their bikes and walking. This gives the library a sense of approachability.

South of the cultural center are apartments housing the people the users of the Mediatheque. Next to their homes is a tiny grocery store and business.

Facing west of the building are tall, green trees. The building often imitates this section of its surroundings. When the seasons change the reflection is clear on Sendai's glass.

The Sendai Mediatheque is the building directly in the middle. Immediately surrounding it is a public parking lot and a few office buildings.
